Venice Boulevard is my experimental web site. It permits
me to create and test HTML code as I study web design. Most of the pages
below were created in
Dru Morgan's
Web Design class at the Venice Skills Center, Venice, California.
I used Notepad and Tripod FreeForm, as well as FrontPage and Dreamweaver,
to create these and other pages.
|
You might wonder why some pages are included.
The reason is that they were exercises I did to learn HTML (HyperText
Machine Language). I have included them as a reminder
of what I have done and as a reference in case I need to check how something
can be done. |
These exercises are in a book on web design
called HTML and XHTML in 24 Hours by Dick Oliver (Fifth Edition),
Sams Teach Yourself Series, Indianapolis, IN 46290. This book is widely
available. I purchased mine at Border's in Culver City for $24.95. You
may try the online exercises for free at the
24 Hour HTML
Cafe. Don't be afraid! You'll have fun! |
Venice Boulevard is the backdoor
to my primary web site,
Tuxedo Junction,
which showcases my love of jazz and big band music. I modified all
of my web pages and created many new ones as I studied HTML in Dru's class.
You'll find plenty of articles, photos, and more than 300 MP3 56K songs
on Tuxedo Junction!
|
The good news today is that you can hear many
of these great songs right here on Venice Boulevard! All you
have to do to hear music all day, all night, all the time, just click
Jukebox!
|
You will need to download and install the free
Crescendo Internet
Music Player to hear this great music! There are exceptions,
especially
Windows
Media Player, which requires the free...you guessed it! Right
now, you're hearing Artie Shaw's rendition of Now We Know
featuring Martha Tilton, thanks to the HTML code we placed on this page
that uses your browser's media player.
|
When you click on these links, you'll be taken
to Tuxedo
Junction because this site, Venice Boulevard,
is hosted by Tripod for free. That means I have to abide my their bandwidth
restrictions. Having even one song on this site could push me over their
monthly one gigabyte bandwidth limit in no time. Why? Because more and
more people keep visiting Venice Boulevard! But listening
to any of the songs on
Tuxedo Junction
has no impact on Tripod. So listen to your heart's content!
|
And suppose you hear a jazz and big band song
you really like. You want to buy the CD. So maybe you'll pick it up the
next time you go to the Mall. |
|
|
You'll find dozens of links
arranged by artists and styles of music that will take you exactly where
you need to go at amazon.com. It's fast, easy, safe, convenient. |
Now, while we're talking about music, if you
are a dyed-in-the-wool jazz fan, you should be able to answer a very easy
question: |

Artie
Shaw and
his Orchestra are still respected for their outstanding
musicianship and extraordinary arrangements of songs by America's
greatest composers. Click the photo to hear another Shaw classic.
And be sure to visit
Shaw's own web site, and take a look at
Buddy DeFranco's to see what the two of them are up to in
this new century.
Click
here to listen to more of Shaw's fine music. |
